FAYETTE COUNTY
Fayetteville is the county seat of Fayette County. It is a progressive community of 16,000 residents, 24 miles dues south of downtown Atlanta. Founded in 1823, the City was named for Marquis de Lafayette, the beloved and revered French nobleman who aided George Washington during the Revolutionary War.
Fayetteville's decision to manage growth in smart, innovative ways has led it to receive many awards, including One of the "Top 20 Locations for Budding Technology" and it made the Forbes list of the "Top 10 Suburbs for Retirement".
Fayetteville received its designation as a Main Street City in 1996. Since that time, the Downtown Square has undergone a transformation process, of restoring the city's historic streetscape, while also welcoming a variety of new businesses.
