WEST GEORGIA
Newcomers to Douglasville will find a beautifully preserved core area of Downtown, which has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Many events are held year round in Downtown's O'Neal Plaza, which also includes the Douglasville School of Art.
One can certainly ascertain that Douglasville is a turn-of-the-century, southern railroad town - because railroad tracks still run through downtown. However, Douglasville also features new development, as retail commerce including the new regional mall, Arbor Place, becomes established along its five I-20 Interstate exchanges.
Carrollton is a bustling city in the West Georgia foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Its location is to the west of Atlanta, taking about 65-minutes to travel the 50 miles from Downtown to Downtown. Carrollton is the county seat of Carroll County and has a 2010 Census population of slightly over 23,000 residents.
Healthy also describes Carrollton. You can regard it as a "walk-able" city, streets replete with shops, restaurants and entertainment, including the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center. And for relaxation, Adamson Square is host to many citywide events, such as Mayfest and Mecca Fest. There is abundant active outdoor recreation as well, including the nearby Historic Banning Mills, as well as John Tanner State Park, which includes a lake with a beach.
